La Baguette Bistro and Thirst Wine Merchants invite you to a special winemaker dinner with John Skupny, owner & winemaker of Napa Valley’s Lang & Reed Winery .
John Skupny is obsessed with Cabernet Franc. From the cool climate versions of the Loire Valley’s Chinon and Bordeaux’s Right Bank to the riper versions from Napa Valley and Washington State, he loves them all! So much so that his whole winery is dedicated to Cab Franc!
When he when he and his wife Tracey decided to take the plunge and start their own winery, they both had impressive backgrounds working for iconic wineries known for the “other” Cabernet (i.e. Sauvignon): John’s résumé included Caymus and Niebaum-Coppola and Tracey worked for years at Spottswoode Estate. Not too shabby! But still their heads told them to follow their hearts—and Lang & Reed Winery was born!
This four-course dinner will be an exploration of Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc (the white grape of the Loire Valley) including all of John’s wines along with some of his favorite versions from France and around the world. All the wines will be paired with a menu by Chef Alain Buthion.
